DOGS
After a number of years painting the nostalgic Kodachrome/slide based images, I just wanted to paint the joyful subject of dogs, and use bigger brushes again.
The series started with big brushes on canvas. But I soon moved back to 000 brushes when I decided to paint on maple boards, using the boards as part of the work. All my paintings had been based on photos that were in focus with sharp edges, until I painted greyhound Skylar, from photos with a shallow depth of field. These paintings reawakened my interest in the expressions of form and colour transitions in blurred images.
